The Royal Australian Armoured Corps (RAAC) is a Corps in the Australian Army. The Corps was formed on 9 July 1941 as the Australian Armoured Corps to provide personnel to use Armoured Fighting Vehicles and has its origins in the Australian Tank Corps which was formed in 1928. Units of the RAAC include tank regiments, reconnaissance regiments and armoured personnel-carrier regiments. Equipment includes: Abrams M1A2 System Enhancement Package Version 3 (SEPv3) is highly lethal, survivable, networked, and manoeuvrable. Boxer is an eight-by-eight wheel, all terrain, highly protected armoured fighting vehicle which can be rapidly adapted to suit various military missions, roles and scenarios across many theatres of operations through the use of installable mission modules. Bushmaster Protected Mobility Vehicle (PMV-M) can rapidly deploy up to ten battle ready troops in all environments. It is blast resistant with an armoured v-shaped hull. Hawkei is an Australian built light-weight four- wheel drive Protected Mobility Vehicle. with superior off-road mobility. M113AS4 is an all-terrain vehicle, includes an electrically powered turret, day/night weapon sights, a new engine, steering controls, drive train, electrical and fuel systems as well as a newly designed internal layout. G-wagon- Re-equipped Land Rover 6x6 LRPV Perenties used in the Light Cavalry / Reconnaissance role of the Reserve forces. ASLAV is an eight wheel drive (8x8) vehicle that has been modified to deal with Australia's harsh conditions. Redback is an advanced Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) featuring a 30mm cannon, anti-tank missiles, an "Iron Fist" active protection system, with a 360° system for enhanced crew situational awareness.
